At Bellevue Cellars, we want choosing wine to feel enjoyable. Whether you’re picking up a bottle for dinner, finding a thoughtful gift or exploring something unfamiliar, we’re here to help you find a wine that suits your taste, your occasion and your budget.

1. Every Bottle Earns Its Place

Behind our shelves is Lion’s Selection: our approach to finding wines with character, quality and genuine value.

We do the searching, tasting and comparing, so you can enjoy the discoveries.

Every wine we choose needs a clear reason to be here. It might be a beautifully balanced everyday white, a distinctive red from a small producer, or a classic worth returning to.

A compelling story adds to the pleasure. What’s in the glass has to deliver, too.

If we recommend a bottle, we should be able to tell you why.

2. The Lion’s Score: What We Look For

Our selection framework, the Lion’s Score, considers five aspects of a wine, always in the context of its style and price.

  1. Appearance
    We consider colour and clarity in the context of the wine’s age, style and how it was made.

  2. Aroma
    We look for freshness, definition and character. Complexity can be a pleasure; a simple wine with lovely, expressive fruit can be just as appealing.

  3. Palate
    This is where a wine earns our attention. We look for balance, flavour, texture and a sense that everything belongs together.

  4. Finish
    What stays with you after a sip? We consider the length and quality of the finish, and how well it completes the wine.

  5. Value
    Does the experience justify the price? From an everyday bottle to a special purchase, we want you to feel your money was well spent.

Prestige $150–$450 Wines selected for their depth, detail and craftsmanship. For a significant celebration, a memorable gift or a closer look at an exceptional producer.
Icons Above $450 Landmark wines with established reputations and a place in wine history. For collectors and those marking a particularly special occasion.
Unicorns Across price ranges Hard-to-find bottles, small allocations and unusual releases. Rarity takes many forms, and a remarkable discovery doesn’t always carry the highest price.
